Scuola del Teatro Musicale provides students with Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) with services designed to ensure their full inclusion within the academic community, supporting them throughout their educational journey.
Welcome and Support Meetings
To access all available support services, students with SLD must provide appropriate certification of a Specific Learning Disorder (SLD), in accordance with Italian Law 170/2010.
The certification must be issued by the Italian National Health Service, an accredited private centre, or a private specialist and accompanied by a formal validation document issued by the relevant Territorial Health Authority (ASST).
Once enrolment procedures have begun, students with SLD may book an individual meeting in order to receive detailed information about support services and how to access them.
During the meeting, the certification submitted by the student will be reviewed.
Requesting a Meeting
Meetings should be requested by email at dsa@scuolateatromusicale.it, including the student’s first name, surname, telephone number, and reason for the request.
Academic Support and Communication with Faculty
Requests for reasonable accommodations require students to send an email directly to the lecturer, copying the SLD Coordinator at dsa@scuolateatromusicale.it, specifying the accommodations needed for the assessment. Requests must be submitted at least one month before the examination date. If students wish to use concept maps, these must be attached to the request email, as lecturers may propose amendments or reductions to the submitted material. Requests to divide a syllabus across multiple assessments should preferably be submitted at the beginning of the course.
The recommended accommodations, taking into account the individual needs of each student, may include the following for oral examinations:
- Division of the assessment into separate parts (requests should be submitted well in advance, preferably at the beginning of the course or during its delivery);
- Use of concept maps. To be used during examinations, these must be approved by the lecturers and submitted by email at least one month before the assessment;
- Conversion of the assessment into written form, only where supported by the student’s certification and following prior discussion with the SLD Coordinator.
For written examinations:
- Additional time to complete the assessment (normally 30% extra time);
- Division of the assessment into separate parts (under the conditions described above);
- Use of concept maps (subject to prior approval by the lecturers and submission at least one month before the examination);
- For paper-based examinations, the possibility of completing the assessment on a computer using Word, Pages, Excel, or Numbers, depending on the type of examination;
- Conversion of the assessment into oral form, only where supported by the student’s certification and following prior discussion with the SLD Coordinator.
Any additional requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Coordinator, who can be contacted at dsa@scuolateatromusicale.it.

Students with SLD may benefit from extended borrowing periods for library materials.
