STM – Scuola del Teatro Musicale and Associazione Spazi Musicali are pleased to announce the Italian premiere of OKLAHOMA!, a milestone of the Rodgers & Hammerstein duo that earned them a special Pulitzer Prize®.

On Saturday, June 1, 2019 , it will be staged, as an absolute premiere, in a special open-air location, in the charming Piazza Libertà in Travagliato (BS). On stage are the graduating actors from the Three-Year Course for Actors of the STM – Scuola del Teatro Musicale, with a total cast of 42 performers, along with the 60-piece orchestra of the Spazi Musicali Association conducted by Maestro Sandro Torriani.

This premiere of the first Italian production, in original language with surtitles, will feature direction by STM graduate Luca Savani and choreography by Ilaria Suss. Costumes will be by Federico Veratti and sets by Alessia Barban and Simona Venkova, students of the Hdemia di Belle Arti SantaGiulia in Brescia.

OKLAHOMA! is a musical based on Lynn Riggs’ 1931 play Green Grow the Lilacs. Set in the Oklahoma Territory in the environs from the town of Claremore, it tells of cowboy Curly McLain and his love affair with Laurey Williams. Between the happiness of the two will creep the menacing Jud Fry, who lives and works on Laurey’s farm.

During the evening a fundraiser will be held for the experimental research “Psychophysical well-being in neonatology related to the premature infant-mother-operator pathway” at the Children’s Hospital ASST Spedali Civili of Brescia.
